Filed Non-Resident return for AL. When I put the amount of tax paid to AL while working on my UT tax return it calculates a credit of $0. When preparing to file, it tells me that the amount for that code cannot be zero. I tried putting in the actual amount of tax paid to AL but then the UT return is rejected stating that "Schedule A Part 4 : Values Must Match : Code 17 amount must match the sum of TC-40S taxes paid to another state (must include TC-40S)"

Note: Code 17 is for credit for tax paid to other states.

I checked and it does not appear that TurboTax included the TC-40S form. Filling one of those forms out myself I also calculate a credit amount of $0.00. I am at a standstill on what to do. Please Help. Thank You.

You must complete your nonresident state return first in order to prompt the credit for the taxes paid. You will need to delete both state returns and file them in the proper order to calculate the right tax. Please view the nonresident state directions for instructions on doing so.
