When I selected NJ from the state drop down of turbo tax 2020 premiere, to the right of the federal refund it shows NY instead of NJ. I live in Florida but did a small job in NJ before covid started.

You may need to pay taxes to New York if you worked there, even though you are a resident of Florida. Does you W-2 entry indicate that you worked in New Jersey? Look in box 15 and see if you entered "NY" instead of "NJ".

You will see an option to delete the New York return when you go to the state section in TurboTax, delete the New York return if you did not work there.

I live in Florida, I worked in NJ not NY. But Turbotax shows NY on the top ribbon for some reason. I never selected NY.

As Thomas asked, please make sure to open your return and look at your W2. Does "NY" exist in box 15? It could have gotten there by a typo or by a failed download. If the latter, delete the W-2 and re-enter it manually.

Somewhere, New York was indicated in your input.
