Question

Should I file for taxes two separate times if I've lived and worked in two different states during 2019?

I am filing as a single person. I have two jobs in NY now, and one of my jobs is with the same company I worked for in California, just in a different location.

you only file one federal return.   if you lived and worked in 2 states in 2019 and both have personal income taxes you'll have to file part-year returns in each state .

reporting the wages for each state on that return.  other income, if any, like interest would have to be prorated between the states.
