Question

Spouse moved from NY to Texas while I have always lived in Texas. We plan to file taxes separately, why do I have to file 2023 New York return?

We married in Deceber 2023. Spouse moved from NY to Texas in July 2023.  We decided to file taxes separately but I see to be asked to file 2023 New York Return.

You don't need to file NY if you live and work in TX.
