I have lived in Minnesota 5 years. I only filed MN taxes last year no problem. I recieve a pension from Michigan MERs. They pay the federal tax. I was exempted from MI taxes because I now live in MN.  For some reason even tho I have completed the MN State tax form it won't file it. I do not need to file inMI

MN may be waiting for a tax credit from MI since it wants you to create a MI return. If your retirement form has MI tax withheld, you would want to file MI. If there is no MI tax withheld, make sure your state box is empty or does not say MI on the MI retirement form. If you have MI in the state box, the program will want you to file that state return.

You can delete the MI return and it will stay gone once the program believes it is no longer necessary.
