Do you intentionally hide the massive E-filing fee for a state so you can double sell your state filing service? After I pay for a service that advertises its inclusion of state filing it is EXTREMELY scummy to hide an additional massive fee at the very end of filing.

I don't think $20 or $25 is massive or too much.   Or you can print and mail state for free.  Watch out you don't click on Pay with your Federal Refund.  That does cost a lot.  Try to pay with a credit card.

Even if you end up paying for the state e-file fee in Desktop, you still come out ahead of the cost of using online TurboTax, with which you would pay separate fees for federal and state.   If you used Home and Business ---the price from Intuit is $130 including state, so with the $25 fee you are at $155.  Compare that to Self-Employed with federal at$119 and state at $59 = $178.    And that is for ONE return.

It is very easy to avoid the state e-file fee by printing and mailing the state.
