Question

State Filing $40 charge

Purchased TT Deluxe (desktop version) which I thought gave me one free state tax filing.   Currently when trying to finalize my state taxes, the app is showing Oregon (where i need to file) and Florida (where I live but don't have state income taxes) as my two states.  When I try to finalize my state taxes, the system wants me to pay $40 to file in Oregon.  I've tried removing Florida, but the app continues to want me to pay for Oregon.  And when I try to finalize, the system still shows both states.  Do I need to pay the $40 to file?  Or is there someway to resolve this so that I don't have to pay?

Florida does not have a state tax return since Florida does not have a personal income tax.

You are not being asked to pay $40 to file the Oregon return.  You selected to have the $25 state e-file fee paid from your federal tax refund and that has a $40 fee for that option.  You need to start the File section again and go through until you land on the following screen and select Pay with a Credit Card.

Or did you buy the Deluxe without a free state program?  Where did you buy it?  Deluxe comes 2 ways, Deluxe with a free state download program and Deluxe without a state for states that don’t have an income tax.  Check your receipt or package or box.

If you bought it at a store in Florida they probably only have the Deluxe without a state.  Then you have to buy the Oregon state for $40 in addition to the $25 state efile fee.

I bought it thru Amazon with the free state download program.
