I was a resident of Iowa who moved to Illinois to attend graduate school in 2023. I did not work or physically reside in Iowa at all for 2024– but I am wondering if I need to still file taxes for Iowa this tax year? I have an Iowa Drivers Licsence still, and drive my mother's car which is registered in Iowa. However, I have a lease for this and next year in Illinois, work in Illinois, am registered to vote in Illinois, and plan to stay in Illinois after I graduate. Am I still a resident of Iowa for tax purposes?

Since you didn’t reside in or have income from Iowa and have no intention to live there you would not have to file an Iowa return.
