State Residency

In 2022 we moved from IL to FL and became full time FL residents.  In 2024 we purchased a second home back in IL. and will spend roughly 8 months in FL and 4 in IL.  We will also be moving our primary residence from FL to TX in late 2024, keeping our second home in IL.  There is a chance our TX move will not be completed until Jan 2025, but our FL home will be sold in 2024 and we will finish the calendar year with just the IL home.  Total time spent in 2024 will still be majority FL.  When we file our 2024 taxes, what will our state residency be?  Can we still file as FL residents even though we sold our FL home in Nov 2024 and have only the IL home?

Neither FL nor TX have a state income tax--so not sure what your concern is in regard to whether you are a "FL resident."  You will not have a state income tx return to think about for FL or TX.   You will need to prepare a part-year return for IL since you say you will spend part of the year in IL and will have income while living in IL.  When you prepare your 2024 federal and state tax returns you will need to use the mailing address that you want the IRS and/or state to use if they need to send you a letter or a check.
