State Sales Tax Reporting

I am a newer Avon representative. When I buy product, Avon charges me sales tax on the purchase.  I was told they submit this sales tax on my behalf to the State of Illinois.  I then collect the sales tax from my customer.
I have filed my business certificate with the State and now they are telling me I have to file sales tax returns.

How do I report the sales tax I already paid to Avon?

You should ask Avon what to do (or ask the Illinois DOR). It seems odd to me that Avon charged sales tax on products that were clearly for resale. But they probably do this routinely, so they should be able to tell you how to handle it.

On the other hand, if Avon really submits the tax to the state "on your behalf" maybe you don't have to file anything. Maybe Avon is filing it for you. Ask them.

This forum is for income tax questions, and specifically for people who are using TurboTax to file their income tax returns. We can't give you much help with sales tax here.
