Question

State Tax

Is it possible to delete and redo my state taxes on Turbo Tax even if they were amended? I need to mail the original, not the amended one.  I needed to amend my federal return, which was e-filed, but I need to mail the state, which was not sent yet, so I cannot send them an amended return until I send the original.

Does TT create an original state return if I delete and redo it from the start even though the federal return is finished and has been amended? Or would it amend the state again because the federal was?

Thanks!

Yes, you can delete your state return and re-create it.

In TurboTax Online, Sign in and open a section of your return.

    1. From the menu, select State and then select Continue on the Let's get your state taxes done right screen.
    2. On the Status of your state returns screen, select Delete next to your state, then answer Yes.

In TurboTax Desktop, With your return open in TurboTax, switch to Forms Mode by selecting the Forms icon.

    1. From the File menu, choose Remove State Return. (This won't delete your state program, just the state tax return).
    2. Select the return you want to delete and select Remove. Choose Yes to confirm.

Your new state return will be built off your Federal amended return, but it is considered an original return if you haven't filed yet.

    It is working so far.

Is there a way to download PA Schedule A for interest income for TT online?

It is not adding it and I do not know where else to put it. It is interest paid by IRS.

    Thanks!
