State Taxes

Is it possible to delete and redo my state taxes on Turbo Tax even if they were amended? I need to mail the original, not the amended one.  I needed to amend my federal return, which was e-filed, but I need to mail the state, which was not sent yet, so I cannot send them an amended return until I send the original.

Does TT create an original state return if I delete and redo it from the start even though the federal return is finished and has been amended? Or would it amend the state again because the federal was?

Thanks!

No, you can't delete and restart a completed return in TurboTax, even if you didn't mail it.

You can undo the amended state return. Here's how to do that:

    1. Sign in to your TurboTax account.
    2. Select Add State to open the return.
    3. Select State Taxes, then Your State Returns.
    4. Select Edit to the right of your state's name.
    5. Continue to Your 2023 (Name) taxes are ready for us to check.
    6. Select Edit to the right of Other Tax Situations.
    7. Select Edit to the right of Amend a return.
    8. Select I don't need to amend after all, then Continue.
