Taxation living in two states

Hi

I am a permanent resident of Oregon, but I live in Texas for work since I am a traveler in renewable energy. We get a per diem on our check that is also taxed. How is that going to affect me when doing my taxes?

Next question, Texas doesn’t have an income tax but Oregon does, when it comes to tax season, am I going to get any money back for the money I earn in Texas? Or does it not matter since I am an Oregon resident? Just confused and don’t want to get blindsided by a huge tax bill

As a permanent resident of Oregon, ALL your income is taxable by Oregon, regardless of where you earn it.

If you are still working in Texas. ask your employer to withhold Oregon state income tax from your pay.  If they are unable to do that, then you must make quarterly estimated tax payments to Oregon.  See this 2023 Oregon tax reference (the 2024 edition has not yet been published):

Hi,

thank you. All my income is getting taxed by my employer. Since we are travelers we have to have a permanent and temporary address on file at my work. So my income has never stopped getting taxed.
