Question

The employer put a state but no state ID number what can I due?

If your W-2 does not have a state payer number, it is possible that they do not have one. Not every payer of has obtained identification numbers for every state. You should try and contact the payer for a state identifying number. 

 

If you are unable retrieve a state identification number, you could enter their federal EIN (as shown in Box b) for Box 15.
