The Utah Renewable Energy Tax Credit (TC-40E) is $1600, but when I put that amount in, TurboTax says the value can only be $1200 or less on the TC-40A

The UTAH website (https://energy.utah.gov/tax-credits/renewable-energy-systems-tax-credit/) says that the Tax Credit is $1600, but when I put that amount into turbo tax, I get a warning that it can only be $1200 or less.

The credit is capped at $1,200 for tax year 2021 and goes down in future years. 

  • For a system installed on or after January 1, 2022, but on or before December 31, 2022, $800;
  • For a system installed on or after January 1, 2023, but on or before December 31, 2023, $400; and
  • For a system installed on or after January 1, 2024, $0.
