Question

Turbo tax is filling out montana Part time resident form incorrectly using federal gross income instead of Montana income. how can i get them to fix this?

I called Montana Dept of Revenue and they said turbo tax is notorious for doing it incorrectly.
How can I get turbo tax to correct this?

Be certain to indicate in the My Info section that you were a part-time resident of Montana by entering dates for each state. Then prepare the former state return before preparing your resident state. See this FAQ for reference.

 

This will allow you to allocate your Montana income from the Federal amount.
