Question

Turbo Tax is not recognizing Michigan PA 4 of 2023's exemption of police pensions from Michigan income tax. Did anyone find a way to correct this?

There are no known issues. You enter in both federal and state section.

Federal entry: 

  1. return to your 1099-R
  2. edit,
  3. continue through entry of the 1099-R,
  4. go through answering the questions and select yes for Public Safety Officer along with the state.

 

State entry:

  1. Proceed through the state screens until you get to the Here's the income that Michigan handles differently screen.      
  2. Select Start or Revisit to the right of Retirement Income and Pension Deduction
  3. Edit pension and verify
