TurboTax Defaulting to Renter on State Maine Property Tax Fairness Credit page.

Hello,

I am using the free version of the 1040 filing online software.
On the “Maine Property Tax Fairness Credit” page, It defaults too “Rent”, but it’s incorrect!
On the State tax section, I’m trying to select “Neither of the above is true.” box for the Maine Property Tax Fairness page.
I live with family and don’t pay rent or own the property.
The software will not allow me to clear the state tax until I submit who I pay rent to, their telephone number and address and it wants to give me a $600 credit I am not due.
I have repeatedly restarted the state section. Exited and logged out on the page requesting the status and returned a day later, even selected home owner, but the software keeps defaulting to cause an error.
  Please help

thank you

You may be able to delete the Property Tax Fairness Credit Sales Tax Fairness Credit (PTFC/STFC) form in your program and that may resolve your issue. Use these tabs in TurboTax:

    1. Tax tools (on the left menu bar)
    2. Tools
    3. Delete a form

Find schedule PTFC/STFC in the list and delete the form.
