Hi,

I have an MA resident with a W2 of income earned in RI. My employer paid state taxes in both RI and MA, so I have a W2 with 2 sets of Boxes 15-17, one with RI info and one with MA info. Box 16 is same amount (the amount earned), but 17 shows RI and MA taxes deducted individually. I entered this info on TT Deluxe Desktop version (I have both state products downloaded as well), but at the time of Review it says:

Resident returns with other state source income and only reporting Massachusetts source income from Form W-2 Box 16.

Why does it say this? I have both states info put in.

What do I do to efile in MA?

The w2 screen should only have RI income entered. Otherwise, it will double your MA income. Delete all MA entries on your w2 screen in the program. You will need to enter your MA tax paid like this:

    1. open your return to federal deductions and credits
    2. Locate Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
    3. Select Other income taxes
    4. Locate Income Taxes Paid in 2024
    5. Select withholding not already entered on a w2
    6. select yes
    7. select MA and enter amount
    8. Done
