Question

Turbotax should not be chargng additional fees to transmit a state tax return. I already paid $89 for the software.

I am not happy about having to pay $24.99 to electronically send my state taxes.  H and R block software allows the transmitting for free. The software is costly as is and people are stretched economically to have crooked fees to file their taxes.

I am going to switch next year to H AND R block unless this fee is removed next year.

I am sorry you are unhappy with the fees charged to you.  Keep in mind that you pay for the Tax Preparation software, not for the electronically filing of your state return.  You can chose to file a paper return for your state return, and there would have been no additional charge to you.

Thanks for replying Regina.  Over the years I have found TurboTax changes the way it processes the filing.  In the past we use to get one state free and that was what I was operating on when I bought it, failing to look at the fine print every year I suppose is the buyer's problem.  Turbo needs to be more up front and not nailing me when I am about to hit efile button.  Another change that go me was when I first loaded and filled out the forms when I hit the X button (top right) TurboTax exited without saving my data.  In the past when I hit the X it would prompt me and ask if I wanted to save the changes, not anymore.  Just my experiences😐

Thanks to all who make this work.

I am very disappointed that I have to pay $24.99 to transmit my second state return when I paid $89.00 for a federal package with 5 state free filing plus $39.00 a second state software which should include free state filing. Not happy paying another $24.99 for transmitting the return
