Hi,

Filing a 1040, home state is Florida, there is no 1040 tax return required.  I am filing a NJ non-resident tax return.   I paid for 1 fed and 1 state  when I bought the software, how do I get Turbotax to recognize NJ 1040NR as the state return I am filing?

This is the first year i am using Turbotax.   I have already entered NJ data and it will print the NJ return to a PDF form, but after the review, it all came back with no errors, I get the "lets take care of your state taxes for $44.99 per state.   When I click continue , it has a Resident Florida state tax return. Which I do not need to file , but  how do I get rid of that?

When you select State in the left hand menu pane, TurboTax should take you to a screen titled Status of your state returns

From this screen, you should be able to delete the Florida return.

If this does not solve your problem, I would suggest that you schedule a callback with a TurboTax expert to get this resolved.

The expert will be able to see your TurboTax screens to guide you screen-by-screen and offer advice.

To schedule a call, click on 'Help' in the top of your screen on the right.

Then select 'Contact us'

Then 'Talk to a person'
