Two States - One Income

Hello,

I lived in NJ from 1/1/21 to 6/30/21 while working for a MA company (telecommuting). On 7/1/21, I moved permanently to MA working at the same MA company.

1- How do I need to fill my state taxes? Non-resident for both?

2- For example, if I have made 100K for all 2021, do I need to report 50K as income in NJ; or 100K as income in MA or 50K as income in MA?

Regards,

Tracadero

You file a part year resident return for both states. The Jan-Jun income is allocated to NJ and the Jul-Dec income to MA.
