I misunderstood what the rent paid with heat included was asking of me and ended up putting another number when I was supposed to put 0. Will that be a problem with my tax refund?

It's possible that your Property Tax/Rent/Heat Credit (PTC) Rebate is incorrect if you entered your expenses incorrectly.  The rebate amount is based on an applicant's income and expenses, so claiming the wrong amount of expenses could affect the rebate amount.

If you've already submitted your return, the incorrect entry may or may not affect the refund you're set to receive.  However, you can start an amended return in TurboTax to see if your corrected figures will make a difference in your refund amount.  See the TurboTax Help article How do I amend my state tax return? for guidance.

To get back to the relevant section in TurboTax Online:

  1. Select Tax Home in the left pane
  2. On the  Hi, let's keep working on your taxes! screen, select the dropdown on the right side of the State Taxes box, then select StartContinue, Pick up where you left off, or Review/Edit
  3. If you land on a Colorado interview page, select Let's get started, Continue or other similar prompt.  Otherwise, in the left pane, select Prepare State, then proceed through the Colorado screens
  4. Proceed through the state screens
  5. After the Would you like to donate to Colorado's Special Funds? screen, you should come to the  Property Tax/Rent/Heat Rebate portion of the Colorado interview.  Make any changes necessary
