Filing city income taxes for the first time ever and need some guidance. The city that i live in (Akron, OH) has a 2.5% income tax rate. I have two jobs that are each in different municipalities from the city that i reside. My first job has >80% of my income and i have 2.6% of that municipality's tax taken out of my check. My second job has < 20% of my income and has 2% of that municipality's tax taken out of my check.

My question is: Does the city i live in look at local taxes altogether from both jobs combined or each job separately? Would the job where 2% of my check is withheld need me to pay an additional .5% to the city i live in?

Q. Does the city I live in look at local taxes altogether from both jobs combined or each job separately?

A. Each Job separately.

Q. Would the job where 2% of my check is withheld need me to pay an additional .5% to the city i live in?

A. Yes

Akron allows a 100% credit for tax paid to another city, but not more than 2. 5%. So, for the 80% city you get a 2.5% credit. For the 20% city your get a 2% credit.

Bottom line: you owe Akron 0.5% tax on 20% of your income.

Akron is not a RITA or CCA city, so you can't do an Akron return, in TT.

You can prepare a return and e-file at the city web site

Assuming you live in a RITA municipality, you should call them.  They are very good on the phone answering these questions [phone number removed]. .  But I feel your pain - I am also in Ohio.
