My refund/payment amount is Zero.  What are the odds?  I think there is something wrong with the Utah State software.

Could be....but if you had low income and no UT tax withholding, a zero is certainly possible

    1) make sure the Federal section is completely filled in first.

    2) then make sure you go thru the entire UT interview next.

IF still nothing...3) go back to the start of the State preparation area , delete the entire UT tax return, and then restart it from scratch.

I just did my UT taxes with the same results of zero  return and when printing the forms only a couple of lines had numbers. How do I delete and reinstall state? If I was trusting of your product you probably would have lost me money!!!

You'd have to indicate which software platform you are using...the procedure is different when using Online software, vs Desktop/download software.

I have the same problem.  I am using TurboTax Deluxe 2019.  Not only does the refund sho $0, but the printout shows none of the data, such as Federal adjusted gross income from federal return, Total Income, Utah Tax, etc. etc.  All of the numbers on the printed form are $0 (See screen shot below.  This is a bug and is holding up tax refund.  Please help.

So, I ended up simply closing my software, then came back two days later and reopened it.  There was not an update, but everything seemed to calculate properly.  Who knows what happened.  Some glitch I guess.

    February 9, 2020

Mine did this as well.  I saved my return, closed the program, and opened it back up 5 seconds later and everything was OK.
As indicated above, it seems a lot of information that should populate from the federal side is not doing so initially.  But again...save, close, reopen.  30 seconds and everything was fine - at least in my case.

    February 15, 2020

Mine originally showed refund of zero.  As suggested by some, I exited out of the program and reopened.  This time it repopulated the utah forms

    February 19, 2020

All, once you enter all information into the Utah forms. Save the return and close the program. Then restart it, all the data will populate. The Federal and State do not communicate when completing the return?

Definitely something wrong with Utah software. It does not compute Non Resident tax and does not apportion income. Please help.

I recommend calling us to request a soft push of the software for the federal and state.

Just helped my son complete his 2019 federal and Utah state tax returns using Quicken deluxe.  Ran in to the same problem!!  State tax refund showed zero!!  Luckily I googled the issue and got to this discussion thread on this site!!  We exited Turbotax and re-entered, and suddenly he got a large refund!!   Definitely buggy software.  I've used both Turbotax and Quicken for years - there have been persistent bugs throughout.  Wish there was a better alternative!!

There is definitely something wrong with the Utah return.  I had to manually override the entire return based on the contents of my federal return.  Might just as well have printed the forms and used a pen.  Very disappointed with the software.👎

    March 1, 2020

Mine too. Turbotax has this screwed up and I suppose there's no way to let them know so they can fix it. I downloaded the form from the State and filled it out in a few minutes.

    March 8, 2020

The Utah software is not pulling the federal over.  I checked the forms and there is nothing in them.  I tried to override and add the correct numbers and now it is griping.  Please fix the transfer from Federal to Utah State ASAP.

First, try signing out and clearing your browser/cache.  Next try the steps outlined here to clear the state error.

@atanasova26 If you are using TurboTax Online please try clearing your cache and cookies, then reboot and log back in. You may also want to try a different browser.

If you are using a desktop version of TurboTax, please do a manual (forced) update. Please see this link for instructions: Manual Update for TurboTax Desktop

If that does not make a difference you should delete the state entirely (you won't be able to do that if you are using an online version and already paid for the software) and then go back through all the state questions carefully.
