Hello Turbo Tax!!!

I NEED HELP:)

I submitted my 2018 Federal and State Tax Return using Turbo Tax.  My Federal Tax went thru just fine with a payment of approximately $8,000.00.   My State Tax Return wherein Virginia owned me roughly $1270.00 also went thru.  However, in August 2019 I received a notice from Virginia Tax that their audit showed a mistake was made on my Social Security Pension and I now owe them roughly $2,800.00.

They said I need to file an amended return.  I asked for their help and they indicated they cannot help me until late February 2020.  Subsequently they sent me an amended audit showing I now owe only $1,000.00 based on their re-audit.  They sent me forms showing how they arrived at this new audit balance.  I do not understand what happened and why.

Can you help me?  I have not heard anything from the IRS regarding the Federal 2018 return

Hope you can help me.

TurboTax does not receive any information from the IRS or your state after your return was filed, so no one at TurboTax knows about a letter you received from the IRS or the state.

    AUDIT SUPPORT

TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS/state tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support.   At the page below, click on the blue button that says "Get Help from TurboTax Support".  Then it will ask you what tax year is your letter.  Then it will ask you what the letter concerns. Then it will show you the phone number during posted business hours.
