We are moving from TX to CO. My husband will continue to work in Texas and we will keep an apartment here. What is required for him to not pay CO state income taxes?

All your income is subject to tax in the state that you live in, no matter where the income is from. Once your husband becomes a Colorado resident, he will have to pay Colorado tax on his income, even though he earns the income in Texas, which has no income tax.

What is required to not pay CO state income tax is to not move to CO. If you move there, you have to pay the tax.
