Question

We live in SC but my husband worked in both SC and GA. IRS is telling me I need to file for GA for 2018. What steps do I need to take to correct that?

I assume that "IRS is telling me I need to file for GA for 2018" means that you got a letter from the Georgia Department of Revenue.

You file a 2018 GA non resident return and pay tax on your GA source income. You then file an amended 2018 SC return and claim a credit for the tax paid to GA.  You will end up  paying little or nothing (except interest & penalty to GA), but have to go thru the hassle of filing two returns. You will also have to buy TurboTax GA software.

Yo may want to considered going to a tax pro to straighten out 2018.
