Question

what does "return is complete" mean for Michigan tax refund

My return was accepted on 02/02 and under manual review on 02/09/2024. Now it's showing return is complete on 02/09/2024. Did they system glitch? Should I be expecting a refund date soon? The representative said my review was complete on 02/16 and I should see an update by 03/01/24 but the website is not matching what I was told.

No, there's no reason to assume something is wrong.

First, the return is accepted. This just means that the computer checked it for signs of fraud, duplication and similar issues and didn't find any.

The next step is processing. Based on what you are saying, your return was selected for manual review and that is done now.

Once the entire process is complete a date will be provided for your refund.

In Michigan the total processing time for a tax return is usually 4 weeks.

My return was under manual review on 02/09. They advised my review was complete on 02/16. It will take 4 weeks beginning 02/16/ or should I expect a refund date soon?

Once your return is filed, TurboTax does not receive information from the IRS or your State.

You can check your status on the Michigan State Department of Treasury website by selecting "Where's My Refund?", Click here for a link to that site.

All returns are subject to a manual review by the Michigan Department of Treasury.
