What is Federal Tax-Exempt interest for state taxes and where is the amount found?

    Look on:

    1)  Any 1099-INT forms with $$ in box 8

    and

    2) Any 1099-DIV forms with $$ in box 12.

     

    Those are $$ that are Federally tax-exempt....either from;

    a) Actual individual Municipal bonds you own (1099-INT)

    or from

    b)   Mutual Bond funds or Bond EFTs you own (1099-DIV)
