Question

When entering a brand new 1099G for state income tax refund Turbotax says "You already have entered amounts for this state or locality". Is this a software bug?

You can edit the amount that TurboTax transferred from last year and enter the amount you actually received (should be the same as the amount reported on Form 1099-G), or you can just delete the form and reenter it again. See the steps below to delete:

  1. Open your return in TurboTax. (To do this, sign in to TurboTax, and select the Take me to my return button.)
  2. In the left side bar, select Tax ToolsTools.
  3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  4. Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet and follow the onscreen instructions.

See the faq below if you are unable to enter more than one 1099-G:

Prior to escalating the question I attempted the workarounds as described - I deleted the 1099-G form and tried starting over to no avail. Unless there's another form in addition to the 1099G that needs to be removed I'm blocked from submitting my return.
