Question

When putting in w-2 info, there is not an option to choose the state of Tennessee. What should I do? It keeps saying needs review because I can’t put information in.

Several  states do not have a state income tax.  So these states will not show up in certain drop down lists.   Leave boxes 15, 16, and 17 blank when you enter a W-2 for these states.

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming

Some software products that create W-2 forms automatically put in the state, even when it is not called for.

Tennessee, for example, does not have an individual income tax, so there shouldn't be entries in box 15-17.

If there are no entries in boxes 16 and 17, you can safely delete any entry for box 15.
