It's entered in the Federal interview (I know that's not very intuitive.)

You appear to be using Online TurboTax, so try this:

  • Log in and open your 2023 return, if not already open.
  • Once the return is open, click on the Search icon at the top right (magnifying glass).
  • In the search box enter this exact phrase:  applied overpayment  (without quotes) and then click the adjacent magnifying glass icon.  Note:  While entering it, do not choose anything in the dropdown menu.)
  • Click on Jump to applied overpayment.
  • Next screen:  Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid.
  • Scroll down about 2/3 of the page to 2022 Refund Applied to 2023 and expand that section.  In the submenu choose the proper topic for type of payment (Federal, State, Local.)

NOTE:  Before filing, make sure the overpayment shows up on your return so you get credit for it.

Addendum

If you can't get to it using that "Jump to" method, post back, and I'll give you another navigation method.

  1. Go to Deductions and Credits, then
  2. Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
  3. Other Income Taxes
  4. Start (or update)
  5. Scroll to 2022 Refund Applied to 2023
  6. 2022 Refund Applied to 2023 State Taxes
  7. Start (or update)
  8. Choose PA and enter the amount
