Question

Why did NC state tax due go UP when I updated state tax return to indicate that I was resident for 10 months instead of full year?

    After you changed that, some numbers may have re-set

     

    ...THUS You might need to go thru the NC Part-Year tax return again.....From Start-to-Finish so that you can "Allocate" what parts of your Federal income is also NC income...just the $$ amounts that were received for working in, or while living in NC. 

     

    (If you happen to have a rental property in NC, then all the net income from that property is still NC-taxable for the whole year)
