Why do I owe $5938 in SC state taxes? I moved to SC in November this year, and only made $9000

My wife moved from PA to SC in Novemner 2021. She earned 9000 dollars at her new job in SC. After filling out all my info, turbo tax says I don't owe anything to PA but I owe 5938 to SC. How is that possible?

Follow these steps to correct your SC:

  1. As you go through the SC return, you mark that you were part year and indicate the date you moved there along with 12/31/2021 as the end of the year.
  2. Continue through the program until you reach South Carolina Part-Year and Nonresidents.
  3. There all income is listed with boxes for you to input the SC amounts. Only income earned while in SC should be in the SC boxes.
  4. Continue through to credits and taxes
  5. Two wage earner credit  should be used if you both worked in SC, select start
