Why does my MN taxes paid not include the carryover from 2019?

I had an overpayment in 2019 that I applied to 2020.  The state carryover does not show in my taxes paid this year.  Did I need to enter that amount?

You will need to review the input in the following section to ensure the overpayment is carried over to your 2020 income tax return.

You can review/enter this information in the federal section of the interview.

  1. Select Deduction & Credits
  2. Scroll down to All Tax Breaks
  3. Select Estimates and Other Taxes Paid
  4. Select Income Taxes Paid
  5. Select Yes and continue to this screen.  Select 2019 refund applied to 2020 state taxes.
  6. Your overpayment should be reflected on this screen.  If it is not, enter it here to ensure you receive credit on your 2020 state tax return.
