Why does my state tax only say for 2019 and will not let me enter 2020 state taxes

The programmers do not update until the state has released the final version of a form. You can check State form availability.

 

The IRS does not begin accepting returns until February 12 and many states require IRS acceptance before they will accept.  The governments feel they have plenty of time to work on the forms.
