Why doesn't my NY State return have a Earned Income Credit option under Credits and taxes?

I am claiming a NY State Credit for non-custodial parents.

The New York state return does include an Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) option for Earned Income Credit for non-custodial parents.

 

It will only come up if you have federal EITC. If you do not see it, go back to Deductions & Credits and Revisit Earned Income Credit (EIC).

 

Find Earned Income Credit in the New York on Take a look at New York credits and taxes

  • Start Earned Income Credit
  • Say Yes to Were you a noncustodial parent in 2020?
  • Answer the eligibility questions for Noncustodial EIC
