Question

Why is my California state return howing only income from my single-member LLC, not net profits? My schedule C for federal return is correct. How to fix?

Are you referring to California form 568?  Please clarify.  California form 568 is used to determine the amount of the California LLC fee which is based upon total California source income.

See 2021 Instructions for Form 568, Limited Liability Company Return of Income.

LLC Fee

The LLC fee is based on total California source income rather than on worldwide total income.

Use Form 568 to:

  • Determine the amount of the LLC fee (including a disregarded entity’s fee) based on total California income.
  • Report the LLC fee.
  • Report the annual tax.
  • Report and pay any nonconsenting nonresident members’ tax.
  • Report income, deductions, gains, losses, etc., from the operation of a multiple member LLC that has elected to be classified as a partnership.
