Why was my state of MI taxes withdrawn from my account instead of deposited

If you owed taxes to Michigan, it would be withdrawn from you bank account.  Only refunds will be deposited to you bank account.

 

Check your Michigan tax return.  If there is an amount on line 33 you owed taxes and that amount would be withdrawn from your bank account.  If there is an amount on line 36, you were owed a refund that would be deposited to your bank account.

 

This of course assumed you elected to use your bank account instead of mailing/receiving a check in the mail.
