Will I receive the remainder of my solar credit from my 2019 return which was only partial - on my 2020 return & how does that work?

It depends. The solar credit is a non-refundable credit, meaning it will only reduce your 2020 tax liability to $0.

Any credit that was carried forward from 2019 that you do not use in 2020 will be carried forward to 2021. So if you use the remaining credit in 2020 there will be nothing left for 2021. If you get another partial credit in 2020, then you will have leftover credit for 2021.

Any carryforward amount will appear on line 16 of Form 5695.
