Question

Wisconsin Schedule M doubling my income

My WI tax return is doubling my income by adding "additional" income to Schedule M in addition to what it's pulled from my Federal return.  I have pension from a non-qualified plan from WI and now live out of state.  Form 1NPR is putting that amount in twice, thus doubling my WI income.

What line on Wisconsin Schedule M is Wisconsin 'adding' income to your Wisconsin tax return?

When you say Wisconsin form 1NPR 'is putting that amount in twice', is line 10 showing $10,000 instead of a $5,000 pension benefit?

Or is it displaying line 10 correctly and another line entry?  What other line?

Consider deleting the pension distribution  from the Federal tax return and running Review.  Then re-enter the pension distribution.

What line on Wisconsin Schedule M is Wisconsin 'adding' income to your Wisconsin tax return?

    It's on line 26 "other income" because it's a non-qualified plan.

When you say Wisconsin form 1NPR 'is putting that amount in twice', is line 10 showing $10,000 instead of a $5,000 pension benefit?

Its a non-qualified plan so it is distributed as ordinary income so is on line 1 on 1NPR but then adds it in again on line 15 from schedule M.  So yes, it is in effect doubling it.  I looked at last years tax return and there is no schedule M which makes sense because it isn't "additional income".

I'm perplexed what to do, hoping they fix it though.  It won't let me modify the state return's lines or remove Sch M.

    Thanks though!
