We added solar panels to our main (only) home in 2016.  We received forms from our solar company stating the total amount that was paid to do this project. We have financed it and paid for only part of it.  Do we claim the full amount finance once (the year we added panels) or do we claim only what we pay each year and get the credit over several years? We live in MA.  Thank you

You should claim the full amount that the solar panels cost (the amount that you financed, plus any down payments).

If you are unable to utilized the full amount of the credit in 2016, it will carryover into future years.
