My employer did not withhold any state taxes from my paycheck all year (clerical error on their part), consequently I am now required to pay a considerable amount to the state - do I have any repercussion?

Unfortunately, for the prior year, you do not.  You can make sure that the withholding issue is corrected going forward but there isn't much that can be done for the past year.

Most states will allow you to pay the balance over time, however, rather than requiring you to pay it all at once.
