Question

Can I delete the part about the combat deployment? I don't have combat deployment. It will not allow me to move on to e-file my tax return until I get this combat off.

If you have verified that you did not have code Q for nontaxable combat pay in box 12 of your W-2 then please follow these steps to delete the parts about combat deployment:

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account
  2. Click “My Info” tab in the black bar on the left side of your screen.
  3. Click “Edit” next to your name.
  4. Continue through the questions until "Which combat zone or hazardous duty area did Taxpayer serve in during 2021?" screen and select "none"

Another area where you can enter combat pay is in the Earned Income Credit section (EIC):

  1. Click on the Search box on the top and type "EIC"
  2. Click on “Jump to EIC”
  3. On the "Let's make sure you're getting your max credit" screen if you answered "yes" to using your 2019 income you will see the field "2019 non-taxable combat pay", make sure nothing is entered here.
  4. Continue through the questions to see if the question "Do you want to include your combat pay in your income?" comes up if it does then select "No"

  5.
