I applied for refund from the military too late and now I need to adjust my income to be minus the amount of the disability separation pay, so that I get refunded the taxes paid on that amount.

If this is talking about the 2022 return and if you have already filed that return, you will need to file an amended return. here is how to amend.

  1. Sign in toTurboTax
  2. Scroll down toYour tax return & documents(you may need to select Show), select 2022 and then Amend (change) return.
  3. Select Amend using TurboTax Online.
  4. Carefully follow the instructions. Don't worry if your refund changes to $0. This is normal on amended returns.
  5. Once you have gained access to your return, remove the entry that references the disability separation pay.

I did not file the 2022 return yet I’d like to just adjust it on the original 1040 without needing an amended return

Sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

On the Tax Home webpage -

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Add a state.  This will take you back to the 2022 tax return where you can make any changes needed before filing.
