I would find someone else to go through, military file doesnt appear to be working this year, did everything they asked and they verified my rank and W-2 but still charged $99 and won't refund it.

It depends on your version of Turbo Tax. The way this works is that once you file your return and review your order, the military discount will be applied with your order. This is only available for users that are in the Free or Deluxe version.

If Turbo Tax required you to upgrade to a higher version such as Premium, you will need to pay for the upgrade. For an example, if you have investment income such as rentals or to report capital gains, you would need Turbo Tax Premium. Also if you are reporting self-employment income, you need Turbo Tax Premium.

The price for Turbo Tax Premium is $99 and I suspect this is the version that you are currently preparing. I am sending a Turbo Tax link to support my answer.
