I went to school and used tuition assistance while active duty navy to pay for it. Should I put this down under the education portion of my tax return?

If you are completing the Education interview and the Tuition Assistance was applied towards qualified education expenses, then you would report the assistance on your tax return.

Did you get a Form 1098-T?  Check with the school to see if the tuition assistance was included in Box 5 of the 1098-T.

If it was included in Box 5 of the 1098-T  and used for qualified education expenses (e.g. tuition), indicate that in the subsequent interview screen (see attached screenshot).

If it was included in Box 5 of the 1098-T and not used for qualified education expenses (e.g. stipend), indicate that in the subsequent interview screen (see attached screenshot).

If it was not included in Box 5 of the 1098-T and used for qualified education expenses (e.g. tuition), indicate that in the subsequent interview screen (see attached screenshot).

if it was not included in Box 5 of the 1098-T and not used for qualified education expenses (e.g. tuition), indicate that in the subsequent interview screen (see attached screenshot).
