In addition to what SJ posted....
1) IF you use the "Online" software, you will require H&B for your new "business" if you mean that you are starting some home-based self-employment operation for you, and/or the spouse (assuming you are not incorporating it). IF you use the Desktop version, you can get away with Deluxe.....but Desktop Deluxe doesn't have the same discount for military members, and is not free to use . But Desktop software may definitely be needed if you and spouse are not residents of the same state
2) In either case, you will also now have to file a non-resident NC tax return for any income from that new business operation.
