Question

I am active duty military and a resident of MN. MN does not tax military so we do not have anything to pay or refund for state. Do I need to submit tax return forms?

?No.  As you noted, Minnesota (MN) does not require you to include military active duty pay when you determine your filing requirement.

Step 1 - Exclude Military Pay:  Determine your total income from all sources (including sources not in Minnesota) while a Minnesota resident.

For more information you can review here by using the link:  Minnesota Income Tax Instructions
